“Macros” is a shortened term for macronutrients. Macronutrients are the energy-giving components of food that fuels our body. They include carbohydrates, protein, and fat; this is what makes up your total dietary calories each day. So when you're counting your macros, you're counting the grams of proteins, carbs, or fat that you're consuming. Grasping the concept of macros is important for strength training because you need to find the right balance of the three to achieve your goals–whether you are trying to lose weight, maintain your weight, or gain muscle!
Here I offer guidance to how many macros you should be intaking so you can achieve your desired goals! My education includes a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport Science with two minors in nutrition as well as a Personal Training Certification through the NSCA. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients over 14 years helping them with their nutrition and body composition goals!
